ViendoMovies is airing this weekend the controversial and original Mexican film Finlandia (2022).
Directed by Horacio Alcalá, this LGBTQ-themed movie has won and been nominated for several awards and complements the channel’s programming strategy for July.
ViendoMovies stands out for its high-quality contemporary Spanish-language cinema programming, airing 24/7 movies without commercial interruptions. The channel features films from all Spanish-speaking countries and also hosts film cycles that showcase industry talent.
Finlandia stars Noé Hernández, Andrea Guasch, Cuauhtli Jiménez (nominated for the Ariel Award for Best Actor for his role), and Erick Israel (Consuelo).
In the film, an unexpected earthquake in the Oaxaca region unleashes emotions within a community and forces the characters to confront their conflicts.
The “muxes” (a term defining male individuals who assume female roles) fight for recognition of their gender as equal in society while also grappling with their hidden passions, traumas, and feelings. Delirio (played by Noe Hernández) leads this community toward self-discovery.
The premiere of Finlandia strengthens the channel’s July programming, featuring its Domingos Deportivos (Sports Sundays) cycle.
In this lineup, the channel will showcase 8 productions, including the films Cabarete (Dominican Republic, 2020), Campeones (Spain, 2028), Lo que siento por Ti (Dominican Republic, 2028), Los Futbolísimos (Spain, 2018), El Chata (Puerto Rico, 2017), Veneno (Dominican Republic, 2018), Jugando a Bailar (the Dominican Republic, 2018), and Campeones: México Sub 17 (Mexico, 2018). These productions encompass both dramas and comedies, genres that resonate well with the audience.
