UCV TV in Chile, that changed owners approximately a year and half ago, has achieved good results with a model based on maintaining a small structure and growing in effectiveness, production, and creativity, with contents that generate followers.
“We aim to have fans, create groups according to our objectives, and have worked with different production companies,” explained Juan Diego Garretón, Programming and Production director. “Our internal production team is very small. Production companies can bring us their programs or come to produce in our studios with our facilities, or we can even hire human resources for a specific program. Options are broad,” added the director.
The channel has approximately 80% of local production. They highlight programs such as Mamá Al 100, Milf, Me Late, Toc Show, Algo Personal, Coming Soon, Contigo Pan y Cebolla. Also, July 27 they will launch Rock Up, a space that combines rock with stand up, from a production company recently established in Chile.
Contracts are usually for three months, with a renewal option. The idea is for each program to be self-financing.
With this model, the new owners of UCV TV managed to reverse the loss of the channel and for 2018 they expect to generate around US$1 million in profit.
For almost a year, UCV TV from Chile has been the owner of Media 23 SpA, a partnership formed by Fernando Gualda and Juan Diego Garretón, who later added Gonzalo Martino and Jesús Diez as financial partners.
