thePlatform: The traditional programming guide has to change

Focusing on creating tomorrow’s TV, thePlatform has aligned with Comcast for the recent launch of The Video Platform, a combined effort of Comcast’s facilities and the cloud services offered by thePlatform since the year 2000. “Both services complement each other greatly to offer operators or TV channels a complete end-to-end offer for solutions on TV IP,” stated Jouari Santiago, Sales director for Latin America at thePlatform.He stated that Comcast’s X1 platform aims to re-establish the relation between user and content. “TV provider’s content offer is increasingly more complete and users have to have the tools to find those contents faster instead of finding other content offers. This is a philosophy that is expanding internationally,” commented the executive.He added that although search engines help, the key is in the philosophy for construction of interphases. “The traditional programming guide must change, become more interactive, more dynamic, capable of recommending based on what a population is watching, etc. Historically, the Internet provides information; when you include all that information in the content selection process, wonderful things can be built”.
