It has been more than a year since Thema acquired Alterna’TV channels and created Thema America, and in this period, the company´s main objective has been to increase and improve the contents of the channels and raise the quality of the signal.
Patrick Rivet, CEO of Thema America mentioned as examples of these improvements: the acquisition of the rights to Dominican baseball for the US for the channel Telemicro, supporting the sports channel LAS to make the leap from standard to high definition and the adaptation of the contents in Canal Once and Canal 22 for Mexicans in the US.
Rivet announced that in the context of the 15th Annual Hispanic Television Summit in New York on October 19 they will launch a totally new signal for US Hispanic, which will eventually also be distributed in Latin America.
“It is a channel that did not exist, I have spent time creating it and now we are finishing up the details. We will talk in the Hispanic TV Summit about this launch we are so hopeful over and we think will work very well” expressed Rivet.
When consulted on the importance the US Hispanic market has for the company, Rivet said, “Its importance is crucial. Hispanics in the US are very important, they are more than 50 million people who have these roots or speak the language. In 2045, it will be the first language in the US. That is why we invest in the content for our channels and in the launch of new channels for this community. It is has been important from the beginning.”
