The challenges the pandemic has posed for the industry have resulted in flexible and innovative responses, as proven by Discovery Networks Latinoamérica/ USH with the adaptation of formats to this new reality. Creativity and the capability to give agile answers enabled results that were authentic, said Michela Giorelli, VP Production and Content Development for Latin America.

A&E also reacted quickly with Metrópoli, when entering an emergency room when the pandemic in Mexico had barely started, as well as with other programs. Carmen Larios, Senior Content VP A&E and Lifetime Latinoamérica, narrated the challenges that 360 material implied in terms of edition and production.

Marcelo Tamburri, Fiction Content Development VP at Turner-WarnerMedia Latinoamérica, stated that the fact that viewers are consuming so many series right now is placing the bar very high for fiction production. “I don’t think the audience will settle with just anything. The more content is consumed, the more people are trained to watch better content. That drives innovation and originality to be increasingly more challenging,” he said.

Joanna Lombardi, director of Fiction for Latin America at Telefónica Media Networks, pointed out that the fact that they are working more time than usual on developments, due to the pandemic, will result in more powerful productions for 2021.

All this was spoken on the PRODU webinar Development and Production of Series during the Pandemic, that took place on Wednesday, August 12.
