Grupo Televisa selected Eutelsat Communications further to expand the reach of its services in Europe. “Televisa is committed to continuing to distribute Televisa Networks programming to all our affiliates and consumers in Europe. Eutelsat’s satellite gives us the ability to do so with high-quality reach,” said Williams Aguirre, general director of Satellite Operations at Grupo Televisa.
Eutelsat explained that Televisa will leverage Eutelsat’s coverage in Europe through the Eutelsat 9B satellite: “Televisa entrusts Eutelsat to further strengthen its presence in Europe with a new multi-year agreement.”
José Ignacio González-Núñez, SVP of Eutelsat Americas Video, added: “We are pleased that Televisa, one of our most important partners, has selected Eutelsat to further expand its presence in Europe, taking advantage of one of our main video neighborhoods in the region. This results from a truly valuable business relationship between both companies.”
Eutelsat’s 9 degrees East orbital position is home to a growing direct-to-home neighborhood and a cable access point. It currently broadcasts more than 500 TV channels, including 200 in HD.
