Televisa: Yo No Creo En Los Hombres creates characters that represent the Latino woman

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| September 9, 2014

In an attempt to offer viewers different options on screen, Aída Guajardo, screenwriter of the Televisa telenovela Yo No Creo En Los Hombres, said the story showcases the reality of the Latin American woman. The novela premiered September 1st at 6:15pm.“The original story by Caridad Bravo Adams is great. It has a solid structure and endearing characters, but it is set 50 years ago and is not so relevant today. We took that structure and updated the story to make it current, with contemporary women who strive, are independent and face real issues. We portray the problems people face today, with characters that represent the Latino woman,” Guajardo told PRODU.She said the audience deserves having different options, “where there is room for the stories I tell, but also stories people can relate to, where dreams are more realistic.”The writer said adapting stories is a worldwide trend, but it’s also important for companies to produce original novelas, “where they can put their stamp and provide an alternative to viewers.”Yo No Creo En Los Hombres is produced by Giselle González and Julieta de la O (associate producer), under the general direction of Eric Morales. It stars Adriana Louvier and Gabriel Soto.
