The new version of the telenovela La Mentira (1998) by Caridad Bravo Adams, now plays under the title Lo Imperdonable (120×60′), produced by Salvador Mejía, adapted by Ximena Suárez and starred by Ana Brenda Contreras and Iván Sánchez. It will debut next Monday 20th on El Canal de las Estrellas, while on May 18th it will do so on Univision in the U.S.For Mejía, this is a traditional story but adapted to reality, taking into account that the audience is loyal and “likes a genre of telenovelas, if you change it drastically, they will reject you. But it is true that we have progressed in the way we create products: Cinderella is no longer an option, on the contrary, main characters must be heroines and strivers, they have to earn people’s acknowledgement. Changes have been made in the production values, because nowadays we have an interesting, competitive and demanding audience pay. With experience in the production of 45 telenovelas, 15 of which have been on prime time schedule, the producer said he was aware that he is facing the challenge of attracting new audiences, those that are now on social networks and the Internet, which is why “we will have second screen, as well an important digital presence”.Finally, he assured that having a cast from countries such as Spain, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Mexico, opens up more possibilities for its international sale.Alicia Machado, Grettell Valdez, Sebastián Zurita and Sergio Sendel will join the cast.
