Production has begun on the third season of La Reina del Sur, starring global superstar Kate del Castillo (Bad Boys for Life, Ingobernable), Telemundo confirmed today.
The eagerly anticipated series kicks off in Bolivia, one of the six countries featured in the next season of the Super Series. The network also announced that renowned actor, Pêpê Rapazote (Queen of the South, Shameless), joins Del Castillo for this third installment of the most successful Super Series in Telemundo’s history.
“A ‘before and after’ exists with La Reina del Sur in Hispanic media. Nearly a decade since Telemundo set a new standard in Spanish-language content with this iconic Super Series, we are thrilled to start production on this third season with the return of Kate del Castillo and a fantastic cast of talented actors. In this new season, Latin America takes center stage. Fans and newcomers alike will be transported by the fearless Teresa Mendoza on a visually arresting journey into the distinctive locations that will make them feel back at home and connect with their favorite heroine as she embarks on her most explosive and personal adventure yet,” said Marcos Santana, president of Telemundo Global Studios.
The original multi-country production, known for showcasing magnificent landscapes around the world each season, will include legendary sites like the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, Machu Picchu in Peru, Argentina’s famed glaciers, and Santa Marta in Colombia, among many other spectacular locations throughout Latin America.
