Telemundo Studios announced the promotion of veteran producer Ximena Cantuarias to SVP of Scripted Production. In the elevated capacity, Cantuarias will report directly to Karen Barroeta, EVP Production, and Development for Telemundo Global Studios, and be responsible for leading long-form scripted production across Latin America as well as joint production opportunities.
“Ximena is a highly-regarded production executive with decades of experience bringing premium, culturally-relevant narratives to Latino audiences. This elevated position allows her to continue to lead the charge in producing powerful, captivating content to further strengthen Telemundo’s position as the #1 producer of Spanish-language scripted content in the U.S.,” said Barroeta.
In her new role, Cantuarias joins Barroeta’s leadership team, which includes Sergio Mendoza, who was recently promoted to VP, Scripted Development, as well as Miguel Bellotto, VP, Production and Creative Director; Maria Badillo, VP, Casting and Talent Management; Licett Benítez, Director, Production Management and Operations; and Luisa Torres, Director, Pilots, and Alternative Content.
Cantuarias brings over 25 years of experience across both creative and operational roles. Most recently, Cantuarias has been instrumental in the production of several hit series for the network, including Buscando a Frida and Enemigo Íntimo, as well as the third season of La Reina del Sur.
