Telemundo Deportes’ exclusive, multi-platform coverage of the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017 has reached 7.1 million Total Viewers through Wednesday, June 21, according to Nielsen.
The coverage has been averaging 1.1 million Total Viewers and 553,000 Adults 18-49, outperforming FOX Sports networks by 4X among Total Viewers (+320%) and among Adults 18-49 (+304%.) Through game 6, Telemundo’s broadcast continues to surpass Univision networks’ coverage of the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009, which aired in similar time periods, by 129% among Total Viewers and 90% among Adults 18-49.
Mexico’s dramatic comeback 2-1 win against New Zealand on Wednesday, June 21 at 2pm ET reached 3.1 million Total Viewers. The match window averaged 1.7 million Total Viewers and 818,000 Adults 18-49, outperforming FOX Sports networks by 484% and 445%, respectively.
The broadcast also surpassed Univision’s coverage of game six of the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009, which had similar time periods, by 492% among total viewers and 373% among Adults 18-49. On digital, the game scored 5.6 million streaming minutes, ranking as Telemundo most streamed match ever, surpassing Mexico’s debut against Portugal on Sunday, June 18. The match delivered 372,000 live streams, matching the total of the first five games combined.
Through the first six matches, Telemundo Deportes’ digital platforms have delivered a total of 14.3 million streaming minutes and generated close to 704,000 social interactions. Mexico vs. New Zealand was the #1 most social event across Hispanic networks on June 21st while Russia vs. Portugal ranked #2. Telemundo also delivered more social interactions and unique social authors than FOX Sports for both matches.
