The conference Contenido Premium en Latinoamérica took place during Río2C. It was presented by T. C. Schultz, EVP and general director of Sony Pictures Television Networks Latin America and Brazil; Luis Peraza, president of HBO Networks Latin America, and Khristopher Lorenzo, Programming, and Acquisitions VP at NBCUniversal.
Aside from talking about investments, programming strategies and development of original series in Latin America, the three executives agreed that cable operators and pay TV will not disappear.
Schultz said that currently, Latin American production, including Brazil, shouldn’t be good but extraordinary, due to the amount of competition there is, and stated that what is being made in the region is extraordinary.
Renata Brandão, CEO of Conspiração, the moderator of the meeting, expressed that in Brazil they are undergoing a boom, there isn´t enough talent, cameras, nor crews to make the production because they are all full.
The executives commented that they are open to original projects in Brazil and in the entire region, as long as they are long formats. This is because for them it is important to try to extend their life and have other branches of the business.
On the other hand, Schultz pointed out that there still haven´t found a replacement for Angélica Guerra, who left Sony to join Apple Video.
