Ana Bond, SVP and general director of International Production for LatAm at Sony Pictures Television was part of the opening ceremony of the new season of Escape Perfecto (Perfect Escape), reinforcing their alliance with TV Azteca, with which they plan new projects for 2024. The SPT board also announced new productions, including its first horror series, and closed the year with a positive balance.
“Escape Perfecto is a successful format, well-received, for the family, and of white entertainment gathering great talents like Marco Antonio Regil and Carlos Espejel, both with the ability to connect with the audience and savvy in the dynamics with the participants, engaging people with this program,” explained Bond.
She said that the franchise is known around the world. “It has been successful on the Azteca screen in the past, and in some way, we see a tendency where families look to watch together this type of content that seeks to entertain and amuse, and that is what we are betting on.” She added that the English version of the format will air on October 13 in the US, for which they relied on production services.
Adrián Ortega, general director of Content at TV Azteca, added that this new season is magnified compared to the previous one. “This set represents the evolution in both production and content. It is a powerful alliance between Sony Pictures Television and TV Azteca, and we have seen that the Mexican audience, our target, is captivated by this content with a touch of humor and a lot of quality. We are preparing to debut with this powerful property in 2024.”
“This alliance creates a monster like this, a huge idea generator. The combination of both results in a successful format, a great team, and the best content. The only beneficiary is the Mexican audience entertained with this blockbuster,” Ortega highlighted.
SPT WITH POSITIVE OUTCOME AND NEW PRODUCTIONS
The VP of SPT announced that to end this year, they have new productions, and some will be ready in 2024, highlighting their incursion into horror series.
“This has been a busy year. We are starting the production of Sangre Llama Sangre, our first horror series in co-production with Claro video. It is a genre with many followers in Mexico and the region. Additionally, we are in the pre-production of Casados con Hijos, which kicks off the first week of October in this country. We are ending the year with many things going on,” he said.
Regarding production in Latin America, he explained that Mexico is the country where they made most of their content this year, and perhaps in 2024, it will be the same. “By having teams in this market and Colombia, both countries have become where we have made most of our content. But it depends greatly on the client and our allies’ objectives.”
He said they will continue with their production line reinforced with Casado con Hijos, which is the ‘feel good’ with a bit of escapism. “That is the line that we will continue following between Colombia and Mexico depending on the project and for whom it is made.”
