Spiderman: A New Universe, is one of the bets of Sony Pictures Latin America for 2018, according to Claudio Sánchez, director of Marketing of the company in Mexico. He gave details about the new films and revealed figures that reflect the importance of cinema in this country, and the role that Mexican cinema plays in the box office.
“The notion about cinema has changed in recent years in Mexico, it is a country that likes it and this year we will release three films for the Mexican public, which we are sure will break box office records: Hotel Transilvania 3 on July 12, Venom on October 6th, and Spiderman on December 21” said the director.
During 2017 in Mexico, 348 million tickets were sold in more than 6,742 cinemas, averaging 2.8 sold per person, according to Sánchez. This places this country as one which most watches movies, after China and the US.
463 films were released Worldwide, 83 for Mexico, where Coco had the highest box office sales with 23.3 million attendees, followed by Fast and furious 8, My favorite villain 3, Beauty and the Beast cast.
Six Mexican films debuted, with Hazlo Como Hombre was the highest box office, with 4.3 million attendees.
This year, Avengers infinity war gather more than 15.7 million attendees in the first week of release.
