Sony Pictures Entertainment: The digital market that is barely starting is rapidly positioned as another way of consuming content

Álex Marín, Executive VP for International Distribution at Sony Pictures Entertainment for Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada, believes the digital market is in an initial stage but rapidly positioning itself among people as another way to consume content. “Although we are currently in a stage that is the beginning of the digital market and consumption manner, I think people rapidly got used to the fact that it is simply another way of consuming content and the advantage it offers is that you can see it anytime, when and where you want to”, the executive told PRODU. He is one of the most active in content sales and who always tops the market trends. “The disadvantage it presents, in certain aspects, is that it is more expensive than watching it on a free channel or a basic cable channel”, he emphasized.”What you sell is content; you don’t sell the platform itself” he expressed. “The great advantage of having the digital platform is that one has the ability to seek alternatives for the product that are not necessarily seen, or to look for ‘incremental’ ways to offer the product to the consumer”.
