TVE is completely open to co-productions. “We had somehow abandoned this path. We have been focused on our own productions, for ourselves, without taking into account the many possible synergies with other TV producers,” said Rafael Bardem, Head of Programs and Licensing Sales at RTVE.
In Conecta Fiction, they have had the opportunity to see a great deal of projects presented by other production and television companies, and the result for him is very satisfying. “This will possibly generate two agreements for Latin America, both co-productions.”
They want to work with two versions of the project: one that only has the script, that is the first stage, and another that is more elaborate, including work plans and budget.
The executive pointed out that for them, the best mechanism to make these projects available is in this type of markets, where people come and present them publicly and seek partners. “It is difficult to go knocking doors. Here is where they must be presented.”
He also mentioned that they have been working for many years with Spanish fiction. “It is a very strong sector and we are in a moment of change. We must embark on more ambitious, international productions.”
Although he commented that they haven´t brought their own productions for this occasion, they have thought about doing it in future editions of this event, in which they are also collaborators.
