Roku celebrated the Streaming Day in Mexico City with an event that included business partners such as Netflix, Disney, Fox Sports, HBO and Paramount + and announced that Star+ will join its family next summer.

“Star+ was what we were missing to become the king of streaming content, but this is somehow in response to the demands of our 71 million active accounts globally, and during the first quarter of the year we streamed 25.1 million hours and still growing; plus the fact that in Mexico we are leaders in the TV market, being in more than 15 TV brands and we want to open more for the following year,” highlighted Luis Bahena, Country Manager in Mexico.

He said that Roku has a great interest in the Mexican market and has been very well received, since “more and more Mexicans are streaming so the market has grown and we are the best option. It is a country that sells a lot of screen units and there is a strong demand for content.”

He emphasized that there is increasing demand from content providers to have their brands within the Roku offering, hence their most recent addition of Fox Sports.
