Rhayuela Films is among the companies participating in the 2024 Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM). Federico Durán, the company’s Vice President of International Productions, highlighted their long-standing relationship with the event. “We’ve witnessed BAM’s incredible growth firsthand. We were sponsors back when it all began. We feel like we planted seeds alongside BAM that helped cultivate the Colombian industry, even before the current boom in series, productions, platforms, and everything else. It’s a truly exciting time – people are eager to participate, and there’s a lot of international interest in Colombia’s potential,” he said during the opening cocktail.
For BAM’s 15th edition, Rhayuela Films is showcasing three projects: the comedy series On Hold, the thriller series Infierno Grande which blends Western elements, and the feature film El Milagroso by director Joé Luis Rugeles. Additionally, Durán revealed they have a robust pipeline of upcoming works. “We have a horror trilogy and several other horror projects in post-production, alongside a captivating true-crime series,” he said.
OPPORTUNITIES AND GROWTH
Durán emphasized the valuable business opportunities that BAM offers attendees. “The producers’ market is a particularly exciting feature,” he said. “The Latin American industry is increasingly moving towards co-productions, and BAM provides a platform to connect with potential partners. By striking a deal with a producer, you gain access to distribution channels like Windows in Spain or North America, while securing Latin American rights for yourself. It’s a win-win situation.”
Durán also praised Colombia’s thriving audiovisual industry, calling it an “incredible hotbed” of talent. “Colombian professionals are making a splash across Latin America and even Spain,” he said. “The demand is high, and we’re seeing a growing number of Colombian developers, directors, and writers finding success in these markets.”
He also highlighted Colombia’s high production quality, emphasizing that Colombian productions can compete not only in the domestic market but internationally as well. “The combination of a highly skilled production sector and attractive incentives makes Colombia a very compelling production destination,” he concluded.
