WAPA América has exclusive rights to air the preliminary bouts leading up to the main World Championship Boxing event between Miguel Cotto and Sergio Martinez on Saturday, June 7, live from Madison Square Garden at 7:30pm ET.The event will air simultaneously in Puerto Rico on WAPA 2 Deportes, the network’s 24-hour dedicated sports station.“This will be a huge night for Puerto Rican boxing, and we are thrilled to present this undercard event featuring the most important Puerto Rican prospects exclusively for our viewers in both the US and Puerto Rico,” said José Ramos, president of WAPA-TV.This special undercard edition of Boxeo Boricua will include rising talent, like Olympian Félix “Diamante” Verdejo (12-0, 9KO’s‎), who will face Mexican Engelberto Valenzuela (9-1, 3KO’s) in six rounds the FECARBOX champion unbeaten prospect José “Wonder Boy” López (12-0, 10KO’s), who will take on Mexican veteran Raúl Hidalgo (21-10, 16KO’s), as well as Jose Pedraza (16-0, 10 KO’s) vs Arturo Uruzquieta (15-6, 5KOs) and the professional debut of Olympian Jantony Ortíz. WAPA sports reporters Rafael Bracero and Kefren Velázquez will provide exclusive commentary throughout the event.
