Starring Rafael Amaya, the fifth season premiere of Telemundo’s El Señor de los Cielos was the most-watched program in Spanish-language primetime, outperforming Univision’s La Piloto by +43% among Total Viewers (2,275,000 vs. 1,590,000), +88% among Adults 18-49 (1,396,000 vs. 741,000) and +97% among Adults 18-34 (627,000 vs. 318,000), according to Nielsen.
Fueled by the premiere, Telemundo ranked as the #2 broadcast network, regardless of language, outperforming CBS and ABC, and all English-language cable networks at 10pm, among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. Overall, the network ranked as the #1 Spanish-language network in primetime among all key demos, averaging 1,637,000 among Total Viewers, 842,000 among Adults 18-49 and 358,000 among Adults 18-34.
On the social front, the premiere of El Señor de los Cielos was the #1 most social episode of the day on Spanish-language networks. The premiere ranked as the #2 most social episode across all broadcast networks behind NBC’s America’s Got Talent. On the day of its premiere, the El Señor de los Cielos Facebook page reached 18,600,000 global users, and generated 9,700,000 global video views.
