PCTV Mexico: We invested US$4.8 million over two years on infrastructure to stay at the forefront

“Cable TV is having tremendous growth and impact, that is why we’ve invested heavily on infrastructure: US$4,790,000 between 2010 and 2012,” said to PRODU Julio Di Bella, President of PCTV (Productora y Comercializadora de Televisión) of Mexico. The company has distribution on over 700 cable systems, with 5 million subscribers, which translates into more than 22 million viewers.“The investment has allowed us to upgrade our teleport and studios, and purchase the latest six-camera HD TV unit; thus setting the stage for the transformation of our channels to high definition in the coming years,” said Di Bella.He also emphasized the great balance of TVC Networks, the division dedicated to the development and production of audiovisual content. “The channels of TVC Networks have been producing unexpected results: we renewed the TVC channel, boosted TVC Deportes, refreshed the channels Platino and Cine Mexicano, and we’re now innovating with the Pánico channel,” added Di Bella.TVC Deportes, PCTV’s “crown jewel,” is a highly dynamic channel that transcended Mexican borders and expanded to the U.S. and Central America. It excelled this summer with the airing of the London 2012 Olympic Games, offering 1,200 hours of TV coverage, including 700 hours of live broadcast through its 3 signals.“Our challenge now is to go beyond being production house and become a generator of content. Today’s viewer consumes media through all electronic outlets, and we’re transforming our vision to serve these new platforms,” said Di Bella.
