Alejandro Rojas, director of Applied Analytics at Parrot Analytics, the data science company that studies global content demand, assured that the global service is more valid than ever during the pandemic because its tools allow them to know how audiences are behaving, which makes decision making easier for their clients. The increase in the digital segment and streaming consumption has stood out.
Rojas stated that they have observed the growth of open TV, pay and digital TV content consumption, although with differences in the rates. “When you compare original contents from OTT platforms in this first quarter, the amount the demand has generated is already a third of what it achieved last year. It is accelerating.”
Parrot Analytics tools have great power because they even allow predicting people´s behavior in response to a certain type of content in different markets. “We analyze a billion data points. The concept is how you translate that which is happening, and even how much time people are dedicating to certain programs.”
Regarding genre or topics, he said that, along with children´s content, interest in sports documentaries and others to escape from reality, such as the ones that have apocalyptic topics, has grown. “Understanding audiences allows you to understand the world,” he concluded.
