In the panel dedicated to young emerging scriptwriters –Future Voices For Future Content in the BBC Studios Showcase, some of the recommendations made by the writers who wish to enter successfully in this industry were: find a good producer who understands you and make your ambitions known in advance.

The panel, comprised by Vinay Patel (Murdered By My Father), Kirsty Swain (Pure), Marnie Dickens (Thirteen), James Young (Can Robots Love Us?) and Simon Norman–scriptwriter of Casualty–and chaired Mark Linsey, Chief Creative Officer at BBC Studios, highlighted the appetite that exists for drama.

Dickens, who participated in the script of the original dramatic series Thirteen (5×60’), said he likes to put women in lead characters in his stories.

For his part, Swain, whom this year has the series Pure as part of the Showcase´s content, highlights that there has always been demand for female stories and that he likes the genre of RomCom (Romantic Comedies) very much.

Patel expressed that it took him some time to reach the path of writing.
