The series will be enriched with the stories told by his children, José Alfredo Jiménez Jr. (who is an advisor in the project) and Paloma Jiménez, as well as all his songs.Jiménez is considered the most important Mexican songwriter/singer, according to great music talents like Juan Gabriel and Armando Manzanero. Present day groups and singers like Maná, Alejandro Fernández, Luis Miguel and El Tri have interpreted his songs.Palomera Group and Kenio Films are in the process of assuring screens in the markets across Mexico, the US and the rest of Latin America.El Rey will be shot in spectacular locations in Mexico, including Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, the cradle of Mexican independence and where Jiménez was born.
