Six years ago Werner Schuler founded NIX Media, a company born with the challenge of providing production services to Peru’s networks at a time when it was not usual to entrust the work to third parties, but quickly the goal was achieved. “I think the secret of our success has been to understand our role: to be a part of our clients’ strategy,” said Schuler, President of the production house.
Now NIX Media has ambitious growth prospects that include two studios outside the country: one in Brickell, Miami, which will open this year, and another in Madrid. “We are convinced that having this type of facilities active in Miami and Madrid, that complement what we have in Peru, is going to give us a tremendously important competitive opportunity,” Schuler pointed out.
The move was prompted after being entrusted with a project from a client to set up a news and lifestyle channel for Spanish America.
In Peru, NIX Media has seven studios in Lurín, one in Magdalena, Lima (interconnected with those in Lurín) and several mobile units (two of its own) that are used especially for covering soccer matches and other events in any part of the country. The management area operates in the Magdalena office in Lima, while the content factory is located in Lurín, 40 km from Lima. Lurín was chosen for several reasons, the main one being that it is located 1.1 km from Telefónica’s most important submarine fiber hub on the Pacific coast (from Mexico to Chile), with which connectivity is second to none. In addition, Schuler already owned this large property that allowed him to set up the production company in just four months.
NIX Media is highly specialized in sports, backed by 25 years of experience of Schuler and his team in the field. In fact, NIX Media’s first client was Telefónica, which commissioned them to produce GOLPERU, an end-to-end channel produced for the Consorcio Fútbol Perú (Peru Soccer Consortium). It also offers other sports content (shooting world championships, Davis Cup and Olympic Games), news, lifestyle and documentaries for linear channels and content for the digital world.
Also another objective of the growth plan, designed for 2023, is to become involved for the first time in the production of fiction for the international market.
