The platform Netflix announced they are working on the biopic of tex-mex music, Selena Quintanilla, in which the artists´ family is involved, under the production of Campanario Entertainment.
Jaime Dávila, Rico Martínez, Suzette Quintanilla, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., and Simran A. Singh are the producers, and Moisés Zamora (Star, American crime) is the scriptwriter and executive producer of Selena: La Serie.
“Selena will always have an indelible place in the history of music and we feel a huge responsibility to do justice to her memory. We are pleased to partner with Campanario and Netflix for fans to be able to see a part of our story that has never been shown before,” said Suzette Quintanilla, the singer´s sister.
“Our series will be centered on the amazing story of a Mexican-US family and on how an extraordinary young woman transcended categories and borders until she became a worldwide star,” added Jaime Dávila, president of Campanario Entertainment.
This is the third production announced about the artist. El Secreto de Selena (13×60’), based on the book by María Celeste Arrarás about her murder, was launched in September on TNT, under the production of BTF Media, Disney Media Latin America, Moconoco and LatinWE. The production company Endemol Shine Boomdog and Major TV also announced this year another versión after acquiring the rights of the book To Selena With Love by Chris Pérez.
Campanario, together with ABC and SB Project, is also working on a “modern fiction in current times,” on the singer´s legacy.
