2016 was the year in which NBCUniversal International Networks Latin America consolidated joint-ventures with five channels (Universal Channel, Syfy, Studio Universal, E! and Telemundo Internacional) in the region, according to Klaudia Bermúdez, SVP general manager of the group, who stated that with this offer, they gained 100 new clients and grew 30% in ad sales.

Another area in which they have made great progress is original productions. Bermúdez stated that for E! Entertainment they are making the original format of NBCUniversal´s Cámbiame el Look (How Do I Look) that they will launch in the region the first quarter of this year. Additionally, they are focused on a couple of other productions, which they will announce further on in the year. “For E! Brazil, we are producing several programs like Alto Leblon, São Paulo Nas Alturas and Drag Me As A Queen. The three are original formats that go along well with the Brazilian market,” she added.

For Telemundo Internacional they are preparing a countdown show titled Estás En Mi Lista.

The ratings also reflect a favorable performance for the portfolio. Bermúdez mentioned that they managed to increase rating of E! in the panregional primetime by 19% and in Mexico, by 50%.

“We maintained the positioning of our brands Universal Channel and Studio Universal in the region’s competed channel offer, and in the latter, we increased by more than 20% in key markets. Telemundo Internacional continues to grow and is very strongly positioned. We have expectations for it to continue growing,” she ended.
