Brunico Communications, a Toronto, Canada-based events and publishing company (Kidscreen Summit, Banff World Media Festival, and Realscreen Summit), has acquired the assets of The National Association of Television Program Executives (Natpe) for an initial amount of US$150,000 in a bankruptcy bid in the US. Natpe filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in October of last year due to financial problems caused by the cancellation of events during the pandemic.
In a statement, Brunico said it “plans to invest significant resources in building the Natpe brand, in particular Natpe Global (Natpe Miami), which is the premier U.S.-based content marketplace.”
Brunico plans a return of Natpe Budapest this year from June 26 to 28, and of Natpe Miami in early 2024.
The sale has been approved by the United States Bankruptcy Court and is expected to close before the end of this month.
