SwipeDate, an entirely new and original format created for Latin America and produced in Viacom International Studios in Miami, MTV Latinoamérica’s new bet that will have its debut on Wednesday, August 23 at 10pm.
“We have been developing this format for more than 12 months. It is a dating show in which all the communication takes place through apps the young generation uses, because they are our main focus. Understanding how young people are connecting today, we thought it would be very good to have a show that would talk about this reality,” explained Tiago Worcman, senior VP and Brand Manager for MTV Latin America and Brazil.
The presenters of the program are Fernando Lozada (Acapulco Shore) and YoStop, a Mexican YouTuber. “The idea to bring these talents that have never been presenters is part of MTV´s strategy of launching new faces to pop culture,” added Worcman.
He highlighted that the talent, production and development team of the show come from different parts of Latin America. “The scriptwriters are from Mexico and the director is Brazilian.”
Worcman added that 2017 is the year with more original production for MTV. “For MTV the idea is to increasingly produce locally. We know there is great consumption and interest from the audience in seeing itself depicted on the screen with their own culture. MTV´s strategy is to have the best global content that can be produced in all the countries with a mixture of local production.”
