Mitú: This year we will produce more programming variety

Mitú recently closed an investment round of US$27 million, led by strategic partners such as WPP, Verizon and AwesomenessTV.“We’re lucky to count with such important partners to take the company to the next level. With these funds we will be able to consolidate the momentum we have created since 2015 with our original productions. We are going to produce more programming variety, ranging from scripted comedies, action and adventure, games shows, all the way to reality shows, both in long format as well as in short format”, told PRODU Doug Greiff, CCO and co-founder of Mitú. He added that they will also invest in technology to better understand the audience and become the experts in contents for Latino youth worldwide. “We will use that investment in increasing our audience and talent base, connecting with Latino social influencers, film directors, writers, young creative entrepreneurs so they can be heard”, he explained.Greiff stated that they are in conversations with several groups to create new alliances. “With Latin Grammy we were the exclusive partner for social networks last year and expect to repeat that alliance in 2016. We’re in talks with telcos, traditional media, OTT and services such as Xbox. I think that people worldwide are increasingly acknowledging the importance of Latinos, the fact that we are no longer a niche, but part of the general market of this country, 25% of millennials are Latinos. Latinos are moving the movie theater box office and influence elections”, he added.
