Greenlight, the new production house of EFD and Cinemat, was born – as its name suggests – with ‘green light’ to its first project: a 50-hour melodrama for Telemundo, which will begin recording on November 14. In addition, they have three other projects in development already approved by platforms. The company, which has María Auxiliadora Barrios as its Director of Contents and Gabriela Valentan as the Director of Production, will be launched this Saturday the 12th at the EFD Group facilities.

Under the leadership of Georgina Terán, CEO and president of EFD Group, and José Vicente Scheuren, director and CEO of Cinemat, Greenlight is also ready to carve out its own space in the competitive world of Mexican audiovisual production: both companies complement and together have gathered talents whose sum of experience provides diversity and a guarantee of success.

Sheuren explained that Cinemat had been looking to create a production company in Mexico for some time, for which they considered it key to find a Mexican partner. “Finding Gina Terán and EFD as partners opens doors for us, as they possess infrastructure, equipment, post-production services, business areas, contacts and relationships, along with knowledge of the Mexican market, which is needed to operate in this territory,” he said.

Gabriela Valentan highlighted the vision that EFD has had within the industry, and in particular Gina Terán, by adapting to each production. “EFD is a benchmark in Mexico and in Latin American countries, because it is the largest production services house in terms of equipment. They can serve from 30 to 40 productions, and can adapt to the needs of giant projects, but also small ones. They have the vision of serving each project in a special way and Greenlight shares that approach, where we must adapt to the needs of each production. This is what made me pursue this enterprise, this vision of the industry in which we adapt to the needs of the stories.”

The project for Telemundo – with Gabriela Valentan as executive producer- is ambitious due to the number of episodes, the delivery time and the tight budget. Scheuren explained that they can face these challenges thanks to the client’s ability to adapt, project and budgets. It is an original idea of the network that has already been one year on the making since the pilot.

María Auxiliadora Barrios works with a team of writers from Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Spain and Colombia, developing different ideas. These creators are her best kept secret, since these ideas are the basis for achieving the desired green light. “We have a constant rhythm of pitching and creative work” she explained, after commenting that diversity gives them great cultural richness to speak to each market in the region.
