Most of Nuestra.TV’s success is supported by its executive women such as María Twena, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

“The majority of our C-suite are women. Our Chief Revenue Officer and our Chief Operating Officer, are all women located here in the US, so it’s very much infused with female energy. So there’s a higher level of sensitivity. I think about everything, making sure that we reach today’s Hispanic women understanding that we’re all different. So there’s a lot of female decision making when it comes to content acquisition as well as development,” said Twena.

Twena is also creator of one of Nuestra.TV original contents, the children’ series MariVi the Master Navigator.

“I’ve written some children’s book series that we’re turning them into video series for Nuestra.TV. MariVi it’s really the story of many children of immigrants born here. They came at an early age and live in a non-Hispanic world, depending on what metro area they’re in they feel like outsiders because they see themselves underrepresented in the classroom and in the media. So it’s about showing children that they do belong. That was a very important project for me and I was behind it from the very beginning, because it is an authentic story about all of us, of many who came here,” explicó Twena.

Ask for he advice for young women beginning a career in the industry, Twena said: “I would recommend any woman entering the field, especially minority or Latina, to embrace who they are early in their career and in their lives, and not to be afraid of their differences, but to actually leverage them in a positive way.”

She said that when growing up she felt like an outsider many times at home and at school. “I was bicultural and I didn’t have a place to hang out and joke with people. I told them all the time I lived between Marcia Brady and Verónica, the damsel in distress on the Univision novela, I felt overshadowed by both and I didn’t see myself in either of them. So I think the more you can embrace who you are totally, there will be fragments of who you are that others will feed on and ultimately it’s for a greater good.”

“It’s great to produce content that fulfills you, but greater is producing content that serves others, I think that’s inherent in all of us. It’s so exciting to be in a place and time where that is embraced and supported. instead of shield away or disregarded. To the women in the industry: don’t hide behind a curtain, share totally who you are, I guarantee you that there is someone that needs to see who we really are.”
