LatinWE: We are seeking accessible programs with organic Hispanic content

Melissa Gelineau, VP for Television and Development at LatinWE, told PRODU that they are looking for marvelous TV programs that emphasizes determined and strong female characters, like Sofía Vergara, who is their main brand. “And we need these programs to have organic Hispanic content, that is very important for us. We want to do it in an organic way that isn’t accommodating, which is very important, both for Sofía and for Luis” she explained. Gelineau explained that the program must reach any type of audience, regardless of their ethnicity, stemming from what people have in common, no matter what their origin is. “It is important for us to produce content that anyone can enjoy,” she emphasized. Gelineau, before working with LatinWE, was for a long time, creative chief at Mohawk Company Productions. “One of our comedies was George López, who, at the time was a very organic program for the George brand, who is a US citizen, of Mexican origin. It was a family show that every could relate to,” she explained.
