Television executives Chris Albrecht (former President of Legendary Television and CEO of Starz) and Jorge Granier (Executive Producer of Jane the Virgin) launched Rubicon Global Media, designed to create IPs from Latin America and Spain with global appeal. The company will also produce story-based content for Latin American audiences.
Rubicon Global Media signed a strategic agreement with Secuoya Studios to provide development financing and shortfall financing for selected Rubicon Global Media projects. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Albrecht said there is an incredible opportunity to build an intellectual property company to unite Latin America, Spain and Hollywood. “Partnering with Secuoya allows us access to a world-class production infrastructure and offer the talent a unique global participation. I’m excited to meet James.”
“This is the first deal of its kind for Secuoya Studios. I am delighted to partner with Chris and Jorge as we expand our leadership position beyond developing and producing Spanish-language content,” said James Costos, President of Secuoya Studios. “It has always been my passion to build a bridge between Spain and the US through the power of storytelling.”
Granier noted that Latin American content has an ever-expanding audience, and they are excited to take that IP to high-quality, story-based content with global appeal. “Our mission is to showcase the rich Latino heritage while creating shows and films that go beyond borders, bridge cultures, and captivate audiences.”
