Pay TV is being proactive in the adoption of new content distribution parameters, as it was possible to notice in the survey carried out by PRODU to several executives of the industry in the framework of INTX 2015: The Internet & TV Expo celebrated in Chicago.Emerson Sampaio, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Megacable in Mexico said: “In Megacable we are transforming our network in a very aggressive manner aimed at this new generation of consumers. In Mexico there is already a strong service platform presence, that are our competitors, such as Netflix, which already represent more than 20% of our traffic consumption. We launched Megacable Play, that will enable the same experience Netflix offers, but adding Megacable to linear channels, it is a very strong differential we have with the same quality as Netflix.”“With the launching in Latin America of Food Network, the convergence of all these technologies is perfect, for we are owners of all the contents we place on our channels. That gives us freedom to manage content like no other programmer in the industry”, points out Mauro Páez Pumar, VP Affiliate Sales at Scripps Networks Latin America. Xosé Manuel Barreira, director at Mediaset Spain´s International Channel, considers OTT platforms complementary. “They are a way to do pay TV. What is clear is that never before has so much content been consumed”.“IPTV, OTT, OVP, this is our new reality. Packaging this content in a manner that optimizes opportunity for the broadband provider to win over consumers, not just as video consumers, but as broadband consumer, is key. As video providers we frequently forget that we are partners. Broadband providers and video providers are actually making money over broadband If by offering our product Vemox we help operators to win over the wide band user, that is where big money is being made”, expressed Tom Mohler, Olympusat CEO.
