Fernando Barbosa, general manager Media Networks at The Walt Disney Company Latin America, expressed that “no other platform has such a well-built and solid infrastructure as ours,” referring to Disney+ launched last month.
The statements were offered by Barbosa in a virtual conference with some media.
“Starting January, there is going to be a very important deployment of local content in Disney+ in Latin America and worldwide, because we must not forget that the entire regional production is also going to be available to watch in all the regions worldwide because where we have launched. In the next two years, we will be producing —in some cases, we already are— an important volume that revolves around 60 and 70 productions to be made in Brazil, México, Argentina, Colombia. And after their performance on the platform, we will see what works better. One of the first launches is programmed for January and will be Conecta y Canta, which is a sort of reality that seeks children talents who sing, starring Sebastián Yatra,” said the executive.
“In general terms, Latin America has always been appealing for global production. It is a treasure that has not been entirely exploited. It has an essential incentive: the high qualification regarding the quality of their talents, technicians, and producers. Gradually, it will be increasingly more explored, mainly now that content is being made for platforms that operate directly for consumers.”
