Just one week after its premiere, Enamorándonos, the new program airing weekdays at 5:30 pm on Imagen Televisión, has garnered attention. Erick Pulido, the channel’s Director of Content and Programming, discussed the revival of this Soho Productions format in collaboration with Endemol Shine Boomdog. He emphasized their goal of offering a modern and inclusive version that will captivate new audiences.
“For years, we’ve been searching for the ideal format to collaborate with Endemol Shine Boomdog. We explored various options with their COO, Frank Scheuermann, that aligned with our channel’s needs. After some initial challenges in establishing a mutually beneficial production model, I approached Soho, the format’s owner. Together, the three parties decided to move forward with this project,” he explained about the process of bringing the program to television.
He emphasized another crucial factor in their decision: the format’s proven success in Mexico and other markets. “Its longevity, allowing it to stay on the air for a significant amount of time, coupled with the ideal partnership between Endemol, Soho, and ourselves, made this the perfect moment. Years have passed since its last run on TV Azteca, and there’s a clear audience demand that we, as content creators, are attuned to. Viewing preferences have certainly evolved since then.”
A RENEWED FORMAT TO ATTRACT NEW AUDIENCES
Discussing the format’s evolution, he mentioned their focus on inclusivity and the addition of a live band. Their goal is to recapture some of the charm missing from classic Mexican television programming. “We’ve created a catchy jingle that adds another layer to the content. For viewers, it transcends being just a program; it becomes an event, a celebration of love. This updated version truly resonates with today’s audience.”
Pulido acknowledges the Mexican audience’s nostalgia. “However, simply presenting an identical version would only appeal to the existing viewers, not attracting new ones. The challenge lies in preserving the essence that resonates with those who miss it, while incorporating contemporary elements to captivate today’s audience.”
Discussing trends in open television, Pulido highlights the success of live reality shows. “The appeal lies in offering viewers a daily event where the outcome is unknown. This captivating uncertainty takes viewers on an emotional rollercoaster.”
