Currently, HITN is in the process of expanding their facilities in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York. The first phase is the expansion of their administrative headquarters to 10,000 square feet; after, the second phase will be the servers and two master control rooms, one of which will have capability to handle up to 15 channels.
“HITN has handled channels for Mediapro, so we have felt there is a business there,” said Mike Nieves, president and CEO of HITN.
And another phase is the construction of two studios in the rooftop of the building located in Navy Yard, each one 3,000 square feet, and having the Manhattan skyline as a view. “Our goal is not only to use it for our productions but to offer it to other media companies who might need these facilities,” commented Nieves and added that in total, the investment is US$14 million.
He expressed that both Mediapro as well as a European group, Perform Group (DAZN), that produces boxing, are established in the new facilities. He added that by the end of 2021-2022 they must have finished the expansion of their current facilities, from 15,000 to 45,000 square meters and increased from 60 employees to around 300.
Nieves also announced in the launch of the SVOD app Edye (that comes from the channel´s slogan in Spanish Educa y Entretiene, Educate and Entertain). “We are doing this launch jointly with our Pay TV partners that have been with us in the last 40 years,” he added. The content of the platform includes the best children´s content currently available.
