Medcezir (38x60’)
Pasiones has acquired the exclusive rights for the U.S. premiere of the popular Turkish series Medcezir (38×60’) (Tide). Based on the hit American television series The O.C., Medcezir made its U.S. debut on Monday, February 6, at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
The drama series will be the third premiere in a line of highly successful Turkish novelas for Pasiones, which previously debuted Merhamet (Mercy) and Unutulmaz (Unforgettable) in 2016.
“Good storylines transcend borders. Turkish novelas have gained a wide following among Latin American telenovela-watchers, reinforcing the growing demand for fresh novela content from across the globe. We are excited to bring our viewers another Turkish hit with the exclusive U.S. premiere of Medcezir,” said Francisco Giménez, general manager of Cable Networks for Hemisphere Media Group, Inc.
Medcezir tells the story of a smart but troubled teen who is taken in from the streets by an affluent lawyer and his wife.
Throughout its first five episodes during its premiere in Turkey, the drama delivered a rating of 6.9/19 (36.32%) share, averaging 3.32 million Total Viewers during its 8pm time slot Sundays. Additionally, throughout its first run in 2013, it delivered an average share +24% higher than the 2012 primetime average (15.3%). The hit series also ranked as the #1 program on Fridays, averaging 3.44 million Total Viewers throughout its first 7 episodes.
Acquired from Warner Bros. International Television, the series features a cast of stunning Turkish stars, including Çağatay Ulusoy, Serenay Sarıkaya, and Barış Falay among others.
