Hemisphere Media landed at the most recent edition of the LA Screenings with five productions made over the past six months, ranging from romantic comedy to sexy thriller, but all with particular features highlighted by Jim McNamara: with well-known actors, based in true stories or known facts and, what stands out the most, intended for a very specific audience.
“It is always very important to begin a film with who you are making it for. It’s key to have a main target audience in mind. Hopefully, it will reach a larger audience, but you have to focus on a particular one. We focus on production because there is a great demand for new content,” he noted.
Regarding the most recent alliance with Canela Media, which will be the first window of these productions, he added that it is a first step for a very large flow of films with this tone that they hope to produce.
Hemisphere Media’s production entering the market are the romantic comedies: Por Amor al Moni and Hombres hay Muchos. Also in suspense Oscuro Veneno, a sequel of La Seductora. And finally, Abusamos del alcohol and Por una mujer casada, based on two famous Mexican ‘corridos’.
Thanks to Hemisphere Media’s team of writers and producers, McNamara expects that by the end of this year, they will have produced ten films and double that number by 2024.
