In the midst of World War I, and after an excruciating six-year-long revolution, a group of delegates representing a broad cross-section of political values are elected in the city of Querétaro, in 1916, to restore righteousness and social order in the devastated country. They embark on a massive national-building program and will test their fears and differences in order to achieve long-term peace. The story begins to unravel on two levels simultaneously: one where the parliamentary discussions take place with the purpose of writing a Constitution for the new Republic, and another one with parallel episodes reflecting the aims of all those who had battled during the revolution. Prestigious authorities from the subject have endorsed the historical research undertaken by the filmmakers.Los Constituyentes is a co-production between Edgar F. Pulido, who conceived the idea of this film, and Estudios Churubusco, with the support of Mexicos National Council for Culture and Arts, the Queretano Institute of Culture and Arts, and the Mexican Association of Digital Cinema.
