Latino-owned Fuse Media announced it would expand its DEI-focused FAST portfolio by launching Somos Novelas, a Spanish-language channel featuring novelas from around the world. The channel, in partnership with Big Media, will launch in 2024.
Somos Novelas will celebrate the revered spot that telenovelas have had in the hearts of Hispanic families worldwide for generations. As one of the few remaining television genres to still draw millions together live around the “electronic hearth,” telenovelas are more than a global phenomenon. From the serious and dramatic to the campy and extravagant, telenovelas are a universally shared emotional experience that bonds cultures and families. The channel will feature titles from Latin American countries including Venezuela and Chile and dubbed series from countries including Turkey, Korea, and India.
With Somos Novelas, Fuse Media will create the most Latino-focused offering in FAST. The Spanish-language channel joins Latino Vibes and El Rey Network as part of the larger Fuse portfolio of DEI-focused FAST channels. With this newly created bundle of English and Spanish-language channels, Fuse Media offers a one-stop-shop solution for advertisers looking to connect with the growing Hispanic audience. Latinos currently make up nearly 20% of the U.S. population and possess a purchasing power of US$3.4 trillion.
“Novelas are cultural touchstones for Latino families, connecting the generations through a shared viewing experience. With the addition of Somos Novelas to our channel portfolio, Fuse Media is now delivering content for every segment of the incredibly diverse Latino audience — the fastest-growing demographic in the U.S. with an extraordinary purchasing power to match — and to anyone who wants to enjoy all of the vibrant aspects of Latino culture,” said Miguel Roggero, Chairman and CEO of Fuse Media.
“With the launch of Somos Novelas, Fuse Media continues to develop best-in-class partnerships to deliver premium content to our young, culturally diverse audience. Somos Novelas will be like no other channel, generating excitement for novelas from around the world that will confirm the global fascination with this immensely popular genre,” said Patrick Courtney, Head of Streaming & Business Development.
