France 24 en Español was launched in Mexico, a country where it’s distributed through Canal Catorce of SPR, and since November 30 from TotalPlay with 2 hours daily.
“We’re a channel with a differentiated proposal for the most demanding citizens of the world. Being a young channel, created together with the digital generation, we rely on a very strong multiplatform project hand in hand with RFI. We’re on all social networks with more than 40 thousand followers and reaching 7 million households in Latin America” said Marie-Christine Saragosse, president and general director of the France Medias Monde group.
Álvaro Sierra, director of France 24 en Español added that they face a great challenge “by having to adapt to the deep changes regarding the transition from TV to the internet, and how people are consuming contents, being mobile an important focus we must pay attention.”
He noted that after a month of their launching, they already have broadcasting agreements with 12 countries. “We continue dealing with cable operators or public televisions, apart from taking advantage of opportunities that internet has to offer with platforms such as OTT, which today are key for the business.”
To conclude, Sierra said that they have programming for 6, 12 and 27 minutes’ formats, “which combine quick responses with more analytic proposals.”
