FOX Networks Group Content Distribution confirmed that a US version of its popular Latin American series Lynch will be going to pilot for The CW this year.

Lynch, which ran to three seasons and 30 hour-long episodes on FOX Latin America, is a dark comedy telling the story of a funeral home owner who sets up a sideline in helping people who need, or want, to disappear ‘die’ – complete with a range of fabricated death and funeral options, plus new identities. Lynch was produced by Fox Telecolombia, with Paula Massa (Death in Buenos Aires, And Soon the Darkness) as the executive producer across all three seasons.

The American pilot of the format will be called Playing Dead and will be written by Rina Mimoun (Mistresses, The Catch) and Josh Reims (Jane the Virgin, Brothers & Sisters), who will also executive produce along with Tariq Jalil (Operation Repo, Blackbird) and Lucas Carter (Camden, Intrusion) of Intrigue Entertainment. CBS Television Studios will produce in association with Intrigue Entertainment.

Prentiss Fraser, EVP, and MD of FOX Networks Group Content Distribution comments: “Produced by FOXTelecolombia for FOX channels in Latin America, Lynch was a big rating hit, so we knew it was only a matter of time before this local gem became of interest to the international market for a remake. The premise is great; it’s like Six Feet Under meets Ray Donovan, and with Rina and Josh on board to write and show run, and the experience and enthusiasm from Intrigue Entertainment, we are really excited about the potential for this property in the US.”
