Sports and live programming is the current focus for FOX after the sales of their pay-TV assets to Disney. “In this context, FOX Deportes is a key part of the new FOX corporation and fits perfectly in its new strategy,” expressed Eddie Espinal, Advertising Sales VP at FOX Deportes.
According to Espinal, the consolidation of these companies emphasizes the importance of being part of a bigger media company. “As the Upfront negotiations are taking place, these companies are better prepared to make the most of their assets to ensure their channels obtain fair participation,” he said.
As for programmatic sales, he mentioned they are an essential source of income. “Our website, foxdeportes.com, continues offering numerous options, not only for video but also for display advertising. Together with partners like Google and Rubicon, we have changed our programmatic inventory into a profitable initiative in the US and Latin America,” he highlighted.
Regarding the segments of most active clients, he mentioned that technology continues to grow and that bet sites are going to play a more important role next year as they are legalized in the US.
Espinal added that they started their first year airing the Super Bowl LIV from Miami. “We have become the main destination for Hispanic NFL fans and present the best NFL action throughout the regular season and the playoffs as the linear home TV in Spanish of Thursday Night Football, as well as a weekly edition of our original NFLEROS program,” he commented.
