ESPN Deportes’ Jorge Ramos Receives the 2014 Medallas de Cortez Award

Jorge Ramos is synonymous with soccer for millions of fans in the U.S.

ESPN Deportes Radio’s Jorge Ramos was honored with the 2014 Medallas de Cortez Award for Personality of the Year during the 2014 Radio Ink Hispanic Conference on Tuesday, March 10 in San Diego. The awards were established in 2007 to recognize excellence in Hispanic radio broadcasting. “On behalf of our ESPN Deportes Radio family, I would like to congratulate Jorge for his dedication and involvement in the industry, the sport and the community,” said Óscar Ramos, senior director and general manager of ESPN Deportes Radio. “His voice, commitment and charisma have been an integral part of our efforts to serve the U.S. Hispanic sports fans.” “I am honored to be the recipient of this award,” said Jorge Ramos. “I am also truly thankful for the recognition and support I continuously receive from my ESPN colleagues. They make doing what I love to do, even better – I thank them all.” Jorge Ramos, better known as “el relator de las Américas” – commentator of the Americas – is synonymous with soccer for millions of fans in the U.S. He joined ESPN Deportes in 2005.
