Flipy’s Tesla Inventemos El Futuro, presented in the past Miami Kidscreen Summit by Imagina US and Mediapro, is the first 100% virtual reality game to foster STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) knowledge via entertainment. It was created by Mediapro, Mediapro, 100Balas and Sony Interactive Entertainment España with the consultancy of Javier Santaolalla, doctor in Particle Physics at the CERN.
“It is a very interesting project because it is part of a more global strategy to support entertainment and fiction projects that have to do with education. We believe that by applying to education the same tools we’ve used to make programs and series, we can achieve very good objectives,” explains Enrique Pérez (Flipy), Content Director at 100Balas, one of the creators of the game.
Pérez has developed numerous series and entertainment programs, including El Chiringüito de Pepe, that will be produced in Mexico and Colombia and the series N00bies for Nickelodeon Latin America around e-sports.
Flipy’s Tesla was developed by the Spanish team Animatoon Studio. It will be available at the end of February with international distribution in the PlayStation Store.
Pérez commented they are developing a new science series that could have 52 or 60 episodes. “The series takes place in a school where there are kids who use science to do good and others to do wrong or evil. It is a Harry Potter of sorts, but scientific, with a very important transmedia universe. When you finish the episode on the app we have developed, you load the experiments kids have done, and once a week –because it is conceived as a weekly series— you can download a 100% virtual reality experience with the characters and sceneries of the original TV series,” he explained.
