MasterChef continues to travel throughout Latin America successfully. Michelle Wasserman, Senior VP Formats Licensing and Content Development at Endemol Shine Latino, informed that the format in being aired in Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, expecting new seasons in Chile and Argentina, and in pre-production in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Dominican Republic. The format additionally has different versions, such as MasterChef Junior, MasterChef Profesionales, and MasterChef Celebridades.
‘The success of the format is that it created a trend because there wasn´t a cooking format on open TV. It is possible to find several on pay TV, but it was new for us to be able to place it so well on the screens of open TV,” said the executive.
The program is consolidated as a brand, and even countries that don´t have big production budgets want MasterChef. “We have offered them similar formats from our catalog that are more affordable, but they want MasterChef and not another format,” informed Wasserman. “Precisely because of that we are working together with the licensing, team to generated brand loyalty and find clients who can finance.”
MasterChef paved the way and now Wasserman trusts that Family Food Fight will be the next success. It was already sold to Uruguay, Paraguay, and Colombia. “It is a fun, good vibe family program. We have to enter gradually because there is still MasterChef for a long time,” she concluded.
