Alejandro Rincón, CEO of Endemol Shine Boomdog, said that in this second semester they are very busy with simultaneous productions, as some were delayed at the beginning of the year. “In parallel, we are working on six productions at the same time, however, they are not overlapping, there are about ten,” he explained, after commenting that they have achieved a production system that works in a very organized manner. He stated that he cannot comment on projects, due to confidentiality agreements with his clients.
As they stated during the last upfront, they changed their development and pitching cycles, which used to happen at any time of the year, but since 2020 they work with cycles, which allows them greater concentration and being more effective. The upfront was a great experience that they plan to repeat, as they got very good feedback from customers.
He said that they have never stopped working, even in 2020, although logically they had more difficult and more complicated processes at the beginning of the pandemic.
They are developing El Agente Mexicano, a period series based on real events, with great potential to be global and that they are doing in alliance with Cholawood of Kate del Castillo and Gastón Pavlovich from Fábrica de Cine, and for HBO Max in alliance with CJ ENM, a leading Korean entertainment and lifestyle company, a competition show to find the first K-Pop boy band in Latin America.
“This project is very different and very global, made in Mexico with international projection and a very different dynamic from the other talent shows that have been done before. We want to assemble the first Mexican K-Pop band on the planet, for which we are going to look for the best talent, with very strong casting and take them to Korea to do a good part of the program there,” he said, after commenting that part of the challenge is it becomes very attractive to different cultures and to make a lot of tours, connecting with Mexican and Latin American culture.
