ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) will invest 25% of its budget in Latin America in creating and developing BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) content. This initiative is part of the company’s global policy, “without diversity there is no agreement”.

“Diversity and inclusion are an essential part of what we do in all our contents. ViacomCBS as a whole is committed with D&I through the implementation of different initiatives, and at VIS we are taking firm steps to fulfill this commitment in front of and behind cameras” maintained Federico Cuervo, SVP & Head of VIS.

In Brazil, ViacomCBS is in the process of developing three new series that cover this initiative: Maria do Socorro, a drama whose protagonists are women who help other women; A Coisa Tá Preta, a comedy and stand up that depicts the everyday life of a group of artists; and Funknautas, a children’s musical series that tells the relationship between Betina, a street girl, and three rich children, whose parents are famous musicians. The group forms a pop/funk band behind their parents´ backs, but their videos on social networks go viral.

VCNI´s Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia division has also made the commitment to allocate 30% of the 2021 budget to the BIPOC content.
